The books so far

The Stanhope Inheritance
The Omega Trap

I love country house murder mysteries with amateur sleuths and a bit of family saga thrown in and that is what I hope to have achieved with these books.

Happily retired from a professional career, having lived in Worcestershire, London and Hertfordshire I am now settled in Suffolk where I live with my husband and our two Labradors. I am involved in several local writing and art groups.

The Stanhope Inheritance is the first in the Annabel Staple series.

It is London, 1965 and wealthy Alec Stanhope dies leaving behind a house of mystery and suspicion. Annabel Staple inherits from a father she thought had died in WWII but a missing fortune, art thefts, forged cheques and murder all suggest that her father’s death might not have been the ‘accident’ everyone thought it to be.
With nothing but a locket containing a photograph of her mother to go on, Annabel must unravel the mystery of her father’s death before she too falls victim

The Omega Trap is the second in the the Annabel Staple series.

When ex MI6 Rosemary Hutton asks Annabel and Ferdy to help uncover a spy at a weekend country house party, they think it will be a straightforward surveillance operation.
But things are never that simple; Ferdy is forced to confront his estranged father, there is a thief at work and the list of potential spies grows.
Then murder raises the stakes and Annabel must use all her ingenuity and determination to expose the thief, solve the murder … and catch the spy.

Praise for the Annabel Staple mysteries

“Took ‘Annabel’ on a long train journey and finished in one go! Loved the comfort of the genre, the period and the cast of characters while the wit and surprise in the writing kept me on my narrative toes. Annabel is a compelling protagonist and I hope to spend more time with her in the future.”

Ashley Pharoah – scriptwriter and producer – Life on Mars, Around the World in 80 Days, Where The Heart Is, Wild At Heart, Moonfleet and The Living And The Dead

“Crisply and wittily written.”

“Hard to put down.”

“Caught the atmosphere of the period brilliantly”

“A page turner.”

“So English it feels like a warm hug from home when living abroad.”

“A book for lovers of the movie Charade!”
